BACKGROUND ON SUSAN KONE- 8th CD Candidate-

My family came to this country from Russia and Eastern Europe in the early part of the 2oth Century. I was named after my Great Uncle Sol who was killed in Germany towards the end of World War II while saving children. Just before she passed away, my grandmother asked me to always honor his memory and bequeathed to me his Purple Heart which to this day remains my most cherished possession. I hope I can honor his legacy and ensure that our children enjoy the freedom, opportunity and way of life we cherish.

We were raised with a deep faith and a strong work ethic. My parents rose from poverty in just two generations – they loved their country dearly and my brothers, sister and I were imbued with an unwavering faith in the American Dream. We were taught from a very early age that with hard work and determination anything was possible — no dream was too big — this was America. I worked throughout high school and graduated Valedictorian of my high school class. I attended Dartmouth College and graduated Phi Beta Kappa magna cum laude with high honors in Government. I attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Law on a partial scholarship.

I am not a professional politician, but I am a professional.
I have real world experience – not Washington experience.
I earn my living by bringing people together with creative, common sense solutions.

I worked as an attorney for 10 years and for the last several years have run my own small business in our district. I find people jobs and help businesses grow and thrive.

I believe that my background will enable me to help address the many challenging problems that confront US.My family came to this country from Russia and Eastern Europe in the early part of the 2oth Century.
