Memorial Day 2014 was commemorated by the Brooklyn Conservatives at Look Out Point on Shore Road and 81st Street. The Boy Scouts joined Brooklyn Chairman Jerry Kassar, Vice Chair Fran Vella- Marrone, Party members and neighbors who came out to remember those that have fallen and those that remain unaccounted for protecting our freedom. State Party Chairman Mike Long and NYS Assemblymember Nicole Malliotakis attended and spoke of the importance of the event and the need to never forget what was done for us. Each year the Brooklyn Conservatives organize the commemoration and provides a new POW/MIA flag for the Parks Dept. to replace. It is a meaningful event and over 40 people were on hand. Members of the Brooklyn Conservative Party later marched in the Memorial Day Parade in Bay Ridge.
Brooklyn Conservatives Celebrate Tax Freedom for 2014 and Reminder to Join us for Memorial Day POW/MIA Commemoration
The Brooklyn South Conservative Club led by Liam McCabe hosted the Brooklyn Conservatives Tax Freedom Day for 2014 at Hall of Fame Billiards in Bay Ridge on May 22, 2014. The date on which we stop shelling out all of our wages for taxes was May 2nd this year. While that is slightly better than May 22nd, it is a ridiculous amount of time to pay into a government taxation system with inadequate returns, especially in this economy and maladministration. Let us see what date next yea’rs commemorations will fall on!
REMINDER: On a more serious note and meaningful one: Please make every effort to join us at the liberty pole at Lookout Point (81st St & Shore Road) 10am on Monday – Memorial Day when the Boy Scouts and a number of veterans, civic, leaders, electeds and neighbors gather to raise a new POW/MIA flag and memorialize those that gave their lives for freedom and are still missing or unaccounted for from wars. The Memorial Day Parade commences on 3rd Avenue later.
Jerry Kassar’s column this week discusses the Gold Star Pin given to families of our military who have given their lives fighting an enemy, as well as the annual POW/MIA comemoration and flag raising. Please join us Monday, May 26 @ 10am at 81st and Shore Road at Lookout Point. see http://www.homereporternews.com/opinion/common-sense-the-gold-star-pin/article_a6fcc45c-e138-11e3-89a7-001a4bcf887a.html
